Content of the Mouse Models module originates entirely from published, peer-reviewed scientific literature and is manually annotated by expert biologists. A comprehensive collection of mouse models was initially compiled from a search of relevant research found in NCBI's PubMed database. The challenge in developing an annotation strategy for ASD animal models is to include necessary and sufficient data fields that capture the various attributes of the mouse model, the many unique constructs, and the wide spectrum of phenotypes reported about ASD in scientific literature.
